Azure Infrastructure Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Azure Infrastructure Engineer with Azure Landing Zone experience, and a keen desire to expand their existing knowledge of Azure DevOps. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Azure infrastructure and be adept at creating scalable, secure, and efficient cloud environments. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our cloud infrastructure aligns with industry best practices and organisational goals
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and manage Azure resources, including VMs, storage accounts, VNets, and other PaaS/SaaS services.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as ARM, Bicep preferred, or Terraform templates.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Azure DevOps YAML preferred, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Design and implement solutions using Azure Landing Zone architecture.
Security and Compliance
- Ensure Azure environments comply with security policies, standards, and regulations.
- Implement and manage security controls, identity and access management (IAM), and network security groups.
- Implement secure connectivity using Private Link, DNS integration, and firewall solutions.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
Monitoring and Optimization
- Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for Azure resources using tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Optimize performance and cost of Azure infrastructure through regular analysis and tuning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Azure infrastructure and services.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with development, operations, and DevOps teams to support application deployment and operations.
- Provide guidance and training to team members and stakeholders on Azure best practices and technologies.
- Assist in the development of technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and user guides.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Azure infrastructure engineering or a similar role.
- Proven experience with Azure Landing Zones and enterprise-scale cloud adoption frameworks.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Azure services, including Entra, Azure Virtual Network, Azure Security Center, and Azure Policy.
- Experience with Managed Identities, Conditional Access, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
- Strong knowledge of RBAC using the Principle of Least Privilege.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as ARM, Bicep preferred, or Terraform templates.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Azure DevOps YAML preferred, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions written with YAML.
- Proficiency in DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell preferred, Azure CLI preferred, Bash, or Python, including the use of REST commands with the preferred scripting languages.
Certifications
- Relevant Azure certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, are highly desirable.
